About

Renee Sherwood

Renee joined SLG as a Fellow in 2023 and stepped into the role of SLG Operations Manager following her fellowship. As an educator, Renee has spent most of her professional career in the classroom and working with underserved students in the community. After graduating from Towson University with a Master of Arts in teaching, she began her teaching career in Baltimore City Schools. Her teaching career included leadership roles such as grade level chair and student achievement coach. Renee continued to support students by launching a tutoring program for children reading below grade level and living in subsidized housing in the Annapolis area. She later went on to oversee educational programming and trained mentors to support high school students as the founding Executive Director of Charting Careers in Annapolis. Renee also supported education in the Arts as a program lead for Creating Communities, a nonprofit dedicated to increasing access to the arts in Annapolis. She has been active in her neighborhood as the social chair for community events and involved in supporting the PTA at her childrens’ schools by serving as a committee chair and volunteer. In addition to her role as an educator, Renee also fulfills the role of mom to a 10 and 13 year old and a very large Labradoodle. She enjoys being outside with her family, skiing, yoga, reading and cooking. Renee loves to travel and explore and is still trying to decide if her heart belongs to the beach or the mountains.
