Alumni Spotlight: Julie McGlosson

Julie McGlosson could have told you her why. She had known it for years. She had simply never said it out loud, and never written it down.

Then a cohort exercise asked her to do both. What she describes afterward is not a new answer, but a clearer one: the reason she gets up in the morning, the reason she walks into the office, stated plainly enough to lead from.

Julie came to Severn Leadership Group through Systems Planning and Analysis, where she found the LITER virtues, Love, Integrity, Truth, Excellence, and Relationships, already close to how her organization understood itself. What changed was not the values. It was the practice of naming them, and what that made possible for her team.

She also lands on something SLG returns to often: you cannot lead well if you do not follow well. Everyone has a leader. Everyone has a boss.

You probably know your why. When did you last say it out loud?
